Overview

Raychem copper mineral insulated electric heat trace cables are designed for a wide range of commercial applications, including pipe freeze protection, process temperature maintenance, roof and gutter de-icing, snow melting, floor heating, heat loss replacement and freezer frost heave prevention.. The copper sheath allows for a rugged yet flexible heat trace cable that is easy to install. Also, the low resistance of the copper provides an ideal ground path. For applications that require additional protection, such as concrete or asphalt snow melting, the copper MI heating cable is coated with a high density polyethylene jacket. Technical Specifications

  1. The heating cable shall be constructed using a copper sheath consisting of either single or dual conductors insulated with magnesium oxide. For corrosive or embedded applications, such as concrete or asphalt snow melting, a cable with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) jacket is required.
  2. The Bare copper-sheathed heating cable shall have a maximum exposure temperature of 392°F (200°C). The HDPE-jacketed heating cable shall have a maximum exposure temperature of 194°F (90°C); it may be exposed to higher temperatures during installation in asphalt.
  3. The Temperature ID Number (T-Rating) shall be established by calculating the maximum sheath temperature; contact Pentair Thermal Building Solutions for assistance.
  4. The heating cable shall be supplied as complete factory-fabricated assemblies consisting of the heated section joined to a length of non-heating cold lead section, pre-terminated with an NPT-threaded connector and ready to connect into a junction box.
