Sophisticated liquid leak detection systems have the capability to detect and locate strong mineral acids (Sulfuric, Nitric) which have been used in mining, dump leaching and mineral processing applications as well as acetic acid used in phthalate plants.

Specially designed and highly reactive sensing cables, when combined with an advanced alarm and locating module, can detect the presence of conductive liquids at any point along its length. Most acids and bases and even de-ionized water can be sensed and located. When the cable senses the presence of fluid, it triggers an alarm and pinpoints the location. These systems are designed for a variety of applications, including floor surfaces, sub-floors, equipment locations, pipes, storage tanks, and trenches

Fire-Rated Cables & Specialty Wiring

When exposed to the destructive forces of fire, electrical wiring is in jeopardy of failure. To ensure electrical power is available for critical circuit survival, construction methods such as embedding the conductors in concrete were utilized. Today, however, a fire-rated cable & specialty wiring system can provide an excellent solution. The specially designed polymer-based or mineral insulated wiring cables used in these systems allow continuous operation of critical circuits for an extended period of time as compared to conventional cables when exposed to extreme fire environments. Also, these systems are often more cost effective than traditional construction based means of fire protection in new construction as well as retrofit situations.

Flow Assurance

TTC Application Overview

Flow assurance refers to creating and/or maintaining the flow of hydrocarbon stream from reservoir to the point of sale. Typical flow assurance applications such as paraffin and hydrate prevention utilize electric heat tracing systems to improve/facilitate oil recovery and production, eliminate down time, and prolong the life of the well.
This is done by heating the production tube above critical temperatures where paraffin and hydrate formations occur.

Freezer Frost Heave Prevention

TTC Application Overview

Subfreezing temperatures inside cold rooms and freezers can seep through the floor, even when it is well insulated. As the soil underneath freezes, capillary action draws water into the frozen areas where the water forms a concentrated ice mass. As the ice mass grows, it can heave the floor and columns, causing damage to the structure and putting valuable inventory at risk.

Pentair Thermal Management offers a freezer frost heave prevention system that when installed in the subfloor under the freezer-floor insulation, can prevent frost heave damage in commercial freezers, ice arenas or other cold room areas.

When water is present in the ground and exposed to cold temperatures, it can freeze and cause damage to any structure that resides above it. As the subterranean water turns to ice, an ice mass can form large enough to cause the ground to heave up. This movement of the ground can disrupt foundations, tank bottoms, etc. causing damage to the structure and putting valuable inventory at risk. By embedding electric heat tracing systems in the concrete layers below a tank or a cold room or freezer and insulating the bottom of each structure appropriately, the ice buildup in the ground underneath can be prevented.

Roof and Gutter De-icing

Roof and gutters can be severely damaged by ice buildup. Ice dams and icicles form when the accumulated snow on a roof melts, and refreezes at the eaves and valleys during the evening. As the cycle continues and the ice dam continues to grow, it prevents the melted water from properly draining off of the roof. Eventually, icicles begin to form, potentially creating both structural damage and safety issues.
